October Community Newsletter 2025

Please see the full post on ParentSquare or the October Newsletter PDF

Dear Greene Families,

The school year is now in full swing, and with the shift to fall, we encourage you to maintain your student's positive momentum. We know that as the initial excitement fades, consistent engagement becomes key to success. Please support your student by continuing to ask them about their day, not just focusing on grades, but inquiring about what they learned and what they found challenging. A simple reminder to be on time to all classes and to engage fully in their schoolwork—whether it's actively participating in class or completing homework—can make a huge difference. Your continued interest and support at home helps reinforce the focus and discipline needed for a successful semester.

Thank you, Greene Admin

For students who have a D, F, or NM ("No Mark") in two or more courses, our team of counselors and Student and Family Engagement (SaFE) staff will be conducting check-ins. A "No Mark" typically means a student is not currently passing a class, often due to missing a major assignment, test, or project. These check-ins are designed to help identify the root causes and connect students with the resources they need to get back on track.

Greene Middle School offers an after-school homework study center known as Homework Habitat. Homework Habitat is open immediately after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesday until 4:45pm. Teachers and tutors are available to assist students with their work, and a light snack will be served.

To join Homework Habitat, students must have a completed permission slip indicating parent/guardian permission to stay after school to attend Homework Habitat. Please click on the links below for more information and the permission form to join Homework Habitat. Return all completed permission forms to the front office.

PAUSD Safety and Security

Last week, Greene Middle School initiated a Shelter in Place protocol after being notified by the Palo Alto Police Department (PAPD) of an incident occurring close to campus. We want to assure you that the measure was taken out of an abundance of caution and in direct collaboration with the PAPD to ensure the safety of all students and staff. At no time was there any active threat to Greene Middle School.

In today's environment, school campuses must be prepared for various types of closures. For your reference and preparedness, full details outlining all of our safety protocols and closure types (Shelter in Place, Secure Campus, Lock Down, etc.) are linked below.

Our administrative team is committed to communicating with you as quickly and efficiently as possible. We will continue to use Parent Square as our primary tool for timely, essential safety notifications.
