School sports teams are run through the City of Palo Alto, so the registration process must be completed through the City’s website!

FALL 2021 Update
The registration is entirely online (not in person, unless you need help) and the Winter Sports registration for 7th and 8th Grade Basketball will be on TUE., Sept. 21st at 8:30 am online. For 6th Grade Basketball, the registration date is Nov. 30th. **NOTE: spots fill up within a minute or two, so you should have your registration info all ready to go and be logged into the website by 8:15am at the latest**
Steps to Register:
Set up a profile for each of your children.
Find the courses you want to register for. You can filter the “category” for “MSA” in the catalog to view just the Middle School Athletics courses. You might want to write them down on paper to be ready.
You may be able to add them to your “wish list” before the registration day, then they will be ready to go.
Have a credit card ready for payment.
If you have a financial need, you can receive a discount up to 50% but must have the scholarship completed well in advance of the registration date, as it does take several days to process. Please see below.
SCHOLARSHIPS / FEE REDUCTION
The City offers either 25% or 50% scholarship for eligible families, up to $300 per person 17 years old or younger for one year. Each year, participants and families do need to complete the fee reduction process. To receive a scholarship, you need to complete the request form and provide documentation. You’ll need to send everything at least 2 days BEFORE your register so it can be added to your family’s account.

Either your free/reduced lunch form, which can be provided at the district office,
Or we will need forms for residency, PAUSD enrollment verification (report card, for example) and annual house income.

Volleyball and basketball teams have 2 divisions, “A” and “B”. Divisions are determined by the coaches at skill evaluations, which take place 2 – 3 days before practice begins. Absolutely no refunds will be granted for not making the “A” team. If your child is selected for the “A” team and would like to play on the “B” team, please contact the Athletic Director to discuss a transfer. Players are not allowed to participate in both divisions.
“A” Player Expectations
The “A” league is more competitive and “A” teams will play the most competitive teams in the league. Participants are encouraged to attend practice as often as possible and practices may take place more than 3 times a week. Playing time can be used as a penalty for an unexcused absence.
Every sport will have a registration maximum and registrations will be processed on a first come, first served basis. Parents will not be able to register for multiple seasons in advance. Please note that walk-in registrations will only take place at the Mitchell Park Community Center (3700 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto, CA 94303).
