Greene offers over 40 different elective courses for our students. Our electives allow our students to explore and find their passions by offering courses in Music, Language, Art, Computers, Drama, Family and Consumer Science, Engineering Technology, and other unique offering like AVID, Broadcast Media, Leadership and more. - The Greene Counseling Department meets with teachers on a weekly basis to identify students in need of support and develop a plan of action to support the students. Click here to learn more.

2024-2025: A Great Year at Greene
Leadership and StuCo
- Greene has held three dances, supported by Leadership students.
- 6th Grade had one movie night!
- They helped organize a spirit week and unity week activities!
- They create weekly spirit days on Fridays for students to dress up and show their spirit!
- Students also help with Special Olympics activities with the entire district!
AVID
- AVID has held two VERY successful AVID Nights where students, staff and families were able to get together to learn more about the program, celebrate successes and they all shared yummy food for each others' cultures/background!
- Students have gone to 2 community colleges this year.
- Students were also able to attend a play and tour SF MOMA!
Band/Choir/Orchestra
- Greene has held 2 choir concerts along with 2 choir fests!
- Band and Orchestra have each held one concert during the year.
- They have also been apart of a band exchange concert with PALY, held a PEP Night concert, and participated in the May Fete Parade.
- There was 2 Music concerts for parents, guardians, staff and students to attend during the school day and after school.
- Students were able to be part of CASMEC and CMEA Honor Choir
- Music students also had the fun opportunity to participate in the SoCal Music Tour before spring break!
AMC

This year, we had 77 students participate in the AMC 8. It is still a 25 question, 40 minute, multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.

A score of 18 or higher is considered strong, with 23 or higher being a notable achievement for the Distinguished Honor Roll.

We had two students who were awarded a certificate of distinguished honor roll, which means they scored in the top 1% nationally. .

We had 10 students receive an award for honor roll, which means they scored in the top 5% nationally.

We had 5 6th graders earn the certificate of achievement, which means they scored over a 15 on the AMC 8.

We had 22 6th graders participate and the average score for 6th grade was 11.

We had 25 7th graders participate and the average score for 7th grade was 13.

We had 30 8th graders participate and the average score for 8th grade was 15.

SciOly
- From 2022-2025, Greene SciOly (Science Olympiad) students competed at the Santa Clara Regional Science Olympiad Tournament and brought home a combined total of 72 event medals, including 3 gold, 11 silver and 11 bronze.

TSA
- Greene students are preparing for the National Technology Association (TSA) Competition
- Currently 5 Greene teams rank in the top 25 nationally
- 4 teams have earned invitations to compete in the National Championships in Dallas, Texas.
- Greene currently have the #1 ranked team in the state!
- Greene has won 1st place in California from 2017-2021.
- Greene was 3rd in the nation in 2017-18
- Greene was 1st in the nation in 2018-19
- Greene was 2nd in the nation in 2021-22
Library
- The library celebrates Banned Books Week
- Battle of the Books - a competition for students around reading and working with their team!
- Students and Staff create Literary Pumpkins each year - it is so much fun to see the creativity from all who participate!
- The librarian asks for people to recognize Remarkable Readers!
- The library holds a diversity reading challenge called Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors. Students can expand their reading genres and expose themselves to different cultures, perspectives and identities.
Excelling Academically
Greene Middle School consistently ranks among the top middle schools in California.
- Niche.com ranked Greene as the 12th best Middle School in California and 3rd best Middle School in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Greene earned a 10/10 on standardized test scores from Greatschools.org.
- Greene has earned a 5 star rating every year since 2011.
